How can I get the battery changed in my Dakota watch?
All of our Dakota Watches purchased either online at www.dakotawatch.com or in one of our stores have the first battery replaced free, with warranty. To have your battery changed, please visit your nearest Dakota Watch Company store location. To view a complete list of locations, please click here. If this is not convenient, please carefully package your watch and mail to:

Be sure to include your name, address, phone number and a check or money order for $15.95 ($19.95 if outside the USA). Please allow 6-8 weeks for your watch to be returned as additional preventative maintenance is also performed on your watch during this service.
Can I change the battery myself? Battery replacement often requires special tools and advanced knowledge of your watch movement to prevent damage. Any damage resulting from replacing the battery yourself (or by another jeweler/watch repair store) is not covered by our warranty and voids the warranty for the future. Please keep this in mind prior to opening your Dakota watch.
Doesn't my watch stay water resistant forever?
No. Opening the watch compromises the level that the watch is water resistant. The age of the watch also plays a vital role in the watch remaining water resistant. As time passes, external factors can cause the gaskets inside of the case and in the crown of the watch to deteriorate. In addition to this, the crystal may have hairline cracks or may contract and expand due to extreme changes in temperature. Because of this, it is always a good idea to have your watch's water resistance tested whenever you have a battery replaced.
How do I get Instructions for my Dakota watch?
Currently, we are working to get our instructions online. If you cannot find the instructions to your particular watch, please email customer service at customerservice@dakotawatch.com with the five digit sku number that is located on your warranty card or receipt, or, if that's not possible, we will accept a picture of your watch.
Who actually manufacturers the watches?
Dakota Watch Company is the manufacturer. There is no middleman therefore we can pass this savings to our customer.
I have never heard of Dakota Watch Company. How can I be assured that the company will still be around if I need warranty work or need a replacement band?
The Dakota Watch Company was founded in 1945. Our humble beginnings were mainly focused on watch repair and other minor repair services. From this we have evolved into one of the nation's largest watch retailers.
How long is the warranty on my watch?
All Dakota and Berenger watches receive at least a five-year limited warranty. Styles such as our Q3 series come with a limited 10-year warranty. You must retain your original purchase receipt and warranty card for proof of warranty.
What does the Dakota warranty cover?
Your Dakota and Berenger watch movement is guaranteed for five years from the date of purchase to keep accurate time as determined by the manufacturer. All other brands are guaranteed for 1 full year unless otherwise specified.
The external parts of your watch, such as the case, band, crystal, stem and crown, are not covered under this warranty. There will be moderate charges for the repair of these external parts. The warranty is void for any watch that is rusted (if not specified to be water resistant), damaged, tampered with, or otherwise abused. We will need your receipt and warranty card for all repairs under warranty.
In addition to the warranty, your first battery replacement and water resistance test is free for any Dakota watch purchased from any of our store locations or online at www.dakotawatch.com !
What happens if my watch needs a warranty repair?
To have your watch repaired, please visit your nearest Dakota Watch store location to have it sent to our repair office free of charge. To view a complete list of locations, click here.

Please include a letter descirbing the problem. Please include your name, address, phone number and check or money order for $9.95 ($19.95 if outside the USA) for return S&H. You will be contacted with an estimate should any non-warranty repairs be required. Repairs are completed in approximately 6-8 weeks.
How long does it take for Engraving?
We like to ask that you give us at least 2 days for engraving your watch, for the sake of fine tuning. Please understand that we want to make your watch the perfect gift with the perfect sentiment.
Can I take the watch to a Dakota Store location for the free battery replacement and water test?
Yes, as long as the watch was purchased from the Dakota Watch Company website (dakotawatch.com) , Dakota Wholesale Website (dakotawatchsales.com), or from a Dakota Watch Company store location. You will need to present your original receipt for this service. Please refer to your warranty card for additional information.
